Oahu, famous for Waikiki, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor has possibly become the most popular of all the Hawaiian Islands. Honolulu which means “The Gathering Place” is the capital of Hawaii and the 11th largest Metropolitan city in the world. Although Oahu is the 3rd largest island, it is home to three fourths of the state’s population. The island has an area of 608 square miles with 112 miles of scenic coastline. Diverse in both agricultural and tourism, Oahu is the only island with an International airport and is the main commerce sea port for all of Hawaii. Oahu is the second oldest island in the Hawaiian chain made up of two volcanoes; Waianae and Ko Olau. Be sure to visit the historic Iolani Palace, it is a taste of Hawaiian Royalty, built in the 1800’s; and the only royal palace in the United States.

Geographically diverse, the island is green and plush with mountains, tropical rainforests, volcanic craters, and miles of sandy beaches. The winter waves at Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline are the largest in the world and the site of national surfing competition. One third of the states best surfing beaches are in Oahu.
