Kauai is known as “The Garden Isle” because of its magnificent scenery and lush tropical rain forests. Truly a “tropical paradise”! The Garden Isle is the 4th largest island in Hawaii and the oldest and most northerly of the Hawaiian Islands. Kauai was formed 5 million years ago by Waialeale, a volcano located in the center of the island that rises above 5,000’. Waialeale Mountain is considered to be one of the wettest spots on earth, averaging 488 inches of rain per year. The island is approximately 552 square miles in size with 90 miles of scenic coastline. Kauai was the first Hawaiian Island visited by Captain Cook and the last of Hawaii’s independent kingdoms. Hawaii’s first successful sugar plantation was established here in 1835, and is now a Historical Site.

The Na Pali Coast is so beautiful it defies description and is accessible only by boat, helicopter or by foot. Kokee State Park and Waimea Canyon (Hawaii’s “Grand Canyon”) rise over 3,000’ and offer spectacular views. Kauai’s Wailua River is one of five navigable rivers in Hawaii, and the Hanalei River is dedicated as a “National Treasures." Only on Kauai does the Mokihana Berry grow and where the legendary race of little people, the “menehune” thrived. Kauai is as close as one can come to paradise. The perfect blend of ancient Hawaii, combined with modern conveniences makes Kauai a great vacation spot and a perfect honeymoon destination.
